Original Pinoy Music continues to flourish amidst its foreign competitors. These artists still managed to get a lot of play requests on the radio and in music channels because of their talent in making original Filipino music. Here are the top 10 OPM songs for 2009:

Muli - Bugoy

An original song by Rodel Naval, Muli is the carrier single from Bugoy Drilon’s first album Bugoy: Paano na Kaya? under Star Records. Muli is included in the soundtrack of the remake of Korean drama, Only You, shown on ABS-CBN.








Tell Me Your Name - Christian Bautista

Tell Me Your Name tell the story of a young man’s love at first sight and first kiss and confusion about a love game. The single is included in the first album of Christian Bautista under Universal Records entitled Romance Revisited: The Love Songs of Jose Mari Chan.

Dahil Minahal Mo Ako - Sarah Geronimo

Dahil Minahal Mo Ako is included in the second internationally-released album of teen singer/actress Sarah Geronimo. The album, released on 12 September 2008 entitled Just Me has 17 tracks. The song had been released as a single and had remained number one in the Philippine Top 20 Hits, all OPM singles for several weeks.

You Change My Life in a Moment - Sarah Geronimo

You Change My Life in a Moment is a revival from the single by Janie Frickie, also included in Sarah’s Just Me album. Sarah Geronimo’s version is included in the original soundtrack of the movie You Changed My Life which starred John Lloyd Cruz opposite Sarah Geronimo, a sequel to their movie A Very Special Love,

Bangon - Rico Blanco

Rico Blanco wrote the song Bangon as his way of helping gather donations and support for the millions of Filipinos victims of super typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng. Rico is offering the song as a free download and waiving all royalties due him. All donations and the royalties will go to a special account set up by Rico and Warner Music Philippines.





Kasalanan - 6Cyclemind feat. Gloc-9

Kasalanan is a single released by 6Cyclemind in collaboration with rap artist Gloc-9 and Wendell Garcia of Pupil. The song’s theme is about love, temptation and forgiveness from their album, Project 6Cyclemind, released under Sony Music Philippines.

Ikaw na Nga - Willie Revillame

Ikaw na Nga is a title track from the 14-track album of the same title, Ikaw na Nga by Willie Revillame released under Star Records. The song is composed by prolific songwriter/composer Vehnee Saturno. Ikaw na Nga is a love song that Willie sings during his noontime show, Wowowee.

Sandali na Lang – Hale

Sandali na Lang tells the story of a person who is optimistic that the promise made by a love one to return and be reunited will be realized very soon.












Tayong Dalawa - Gary Valenciano

Gary Valenciano’s version of Tayong Dalawa is the theme song of a primetime made for TV movie of the same name, serialized on ABS-CBN starring Gerald Anderson and Jake Cuenca as fraternal brother with a common love interest in the character played by Kim Chiu. This is a remake of a Rey Valera original composition.

Walang Iwanan - 6Cyclemind

Walang Iwanan (2005) was written by 6Cyclemind for another artist called Popfilter. The group included it in their Project 6Cyclemind album. It reflects the group’s togetherness despite the odds. It was launched in 12 top Metro Manila FM stations and selected provincial radios simultaneously.
