Rationale

edit

Nothing can be more exciting and elaborate in the Filipino culture than its Fiestas. Being a fun-loving people by nature, through good times and bad times, the Filipino fiesta must go on. The fiestas celebrated in the country are rooted in the acculturation that the country and its people have had in the historic past. The traditions native to the Filipinos are infused with those brought by different races through varying foreign contacts that occurred. Each city and barrio in the Philippines has at least one local festival, and these are a lot more than just galas – these are occasions for Filipinos to be reunited with their loved ones (and enjoy the succulent handaan).

The grandeur of Philippine culture and impeccable spirituality of the Filipinos are what WikiWork:Fiesta is showcasing – a calendar-type listing of the celebrations, festivals and feasts in the country commemorating the rich cultural diversity and religiosity of Filipinos from all parts of the archipelago! It's like a daily salute and honor to nature, events and patron saints – a time to rejoice and enjoy being a merry Pinoy!
